Home Sleep Studies test patients to determine if they have a condition known as sleep apnea. There are two kinds of sleep apnea: obstructive sleep apnea and central sleep apnea. Obstructive sleep apnea is much more common; patients with obstructive sleep apnea experience the throat collapsing during sleep, which causes them to snort and gasp for breath. Hundreds of these episodes can occur every night causing daytime sleepiness and increasing the risk of hypertension and heart problems.

Obstructive Sleep Apnea Symptoms

• Oversized neck circumference: >16.5 inches in males, >15 inches in females
• Obesity

Treatment for Obstructive Sleep Apnea can be achieved using a machine that provides Continuous Positive Airflow Pressure, or CPAP. The CPAP device is the most standard treatment for moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea. The majority of our patients report immediate symptom relief and increased energy. The CPAP device is a mask-like machine that provides a constant stream of air to keep your breathing passages open while you sleep.
